Statement of Purpose

To glorify God by worshipping together, and by providing teaching and nurture to help each other grow in commitment to Jesus Christ, in godliness, and in desire and ability to reach out to others. Nurture is an atmosphere of love, support, encouragement, unity, and accountability.

Colossians 2:6-7 ~ Therefore, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and firm in your faith just as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Hebrews 10:24-25 ~ And let us take thought of how to spur one another on to love and good works, not abandoning our own meetings, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and even more so because you see the day drawing near.

A secondary purpose is reaching out as a group in evangelism and social concern.]

Statement of Faith

1. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired and infallible Word of God. They are the supreme and final authority in faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:16-21)

2. We believe in one God; Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer. Though God is one eternal, infinite and unchanging God, He is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; all three sharing one divine nature. (Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 90:2; Psalm 147:5; Isaiah 40:28; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
  • The Father ~ The Father of Jesus Christ especially, but also the Father of all believers and of all things. (John 8:31-59; Ephesians 4:4-6)
  • The Son ~ Jesus Christ, born of the virgin Mary and fully man as well as fully God, came to earth as a practical expression of God and as the divinely appointed substitute to make atonement for sin. He rose victorious over sin and death in His bodily resurrection and now reigns at the right hand of His Father on high. (Isaiah 53:5-6; John 1:1, 14; Ephesians 2:4-10; Colossians 2:9-15; Hebrews 7:25)
  • Holy Spirit ~ The Helper and Comforter who lives in believers to guide them to truth and to empower them for service. (John 16:13-14; Acts 5:3-4)
3. We belive Satan is a personal spirit being who opposes God and His purposes. (Matthew 4:1-11; John 8:41-59; 1 Peter 5:8)

4. We believe that all human beings, from conception onward, are created in God's image and are special to Him. Because of conscious choice, sin now seperates all humanity from God and His holiness. (Genesis 1:26-27, 3:1-24; Romans 3:23, 5:12; Psalm 139:13-16)

5. We believe people are saved by grace through faith. The only basis for salvation is the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (John 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:15-16) We believe that salvation will produce change and that faith and obedience are essential to the Christian walk. (1 John 3:14; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Ephesians 2:10; James 2:14-26)

6. We believe the church of Jesus Christ includes all those who have repented of sin and have placed their faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28:18-20; John 1:12; Acts 8:3; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:22-23) We believe in the local church ~ a community of Christians putting into practice the teachings of Jesus Christ. (Acts 11:19-22; Titus 1:5)

7. We believe in the personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ. As He was victorious over death in the resurrection, so He will be victorious over all things and will lead His church to everlasting glory while all those who have rejected Him will go to everlasting punishment with Satan and his angels. (Matthew 24:44, 25:31-46; Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15:20-28; Revelation 20-22)
